The Weber State University Football Team got off to a great start last Saturday, pounding the University of Montana - Western 62-6. But this Saturday at 10 p.m. (MDT), the Wildcats face a tougher and perhaps more familiar foe in the University of Hawaii.
The Warriors are the defending Western Athletic Conference Champions, fresh off an appearance in last year's Sugar Bowl, and return a total of nine starters from last year's 12-1 squad.

The Weber State University Football Team kicked off the 2008 season in dominating fashion yesterday, blowing out the University of Montana - Western 62-6.
The Wildcat defense was strong after a sluggish opening half, and the offense started off strong with an eight-play, 51-yard march down the field that resulted in a 14-yard touchdown run from senior running back Trevyn Smith.

Most of the news coverage this past week painted Russia as the unjust aggressor, and the Republic of Georgia as the recipient of unjust military action.

Though the inevitable return to classes has finally approached, there is no need for back to school blues. For some well-deserved down time in-between class and homework, there are plenty of new movies making there way to theatres this month. September features a hunchback with big dreams, a ghost with jealousy issues, and a man who just can't seem to get enough of the Heimlich maneuver.

Pollsters, pundits and the voting public seem to agree on at least one thing about this year's presidential race--among college students from coast to coast, there is something powerfully appealing about Sen. Barack Obama. Even in Utah, traditionally the reddest of the red states, the 2008 Democratic nominee has captured the imagination and unleashed the collective energy of this particular demographic in a way not seen since Eugene McCarthy's failed 1968 bid for the White House.

We have all learned a valuable lesson from our friend Ferris Bueller. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." We as sports fans must adhere to this adage now more than ever. We have all been guilty of it.

DENVER-Max Loveless is not one of the thousands of university students supporting Barack Obama's Democratic bid for the White House. Instead, Loveless is promoting Republican candidate John McCain at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, amid a sea of college-aged Obama fans.

With the unprecedented success of films such as The Dark Night and Iron Man this summer, it isn't surprising to find a resurgence of popularity in the culture of comic books. Of particular importance to UVU students is the news that this fall the English department is offering Themes in Literature: The Graphic Novel -- no doubt a pleasant surprise to many.
